TRUTHFUL

So I finally finished this necklace the other day, but I have so much life stuff going on right now it was even hard to get it listed in my etsy shop. It did take me a long time to make, what seemed liked forever in fact....painfully slow....uh...you get the idea. Seems like I have been moving in slow motion, but I have been translating that into at least I'm moving, and that works for me.
This was a labor of love, and one I thoroughly enjoyed, and am hoping to do more......after I rest again.
Thanks for taking a look and all your support. It truly means the world.

BEAD SHOW

I went to the bead show with my daughter today, and had a great time, as you can tell by the photos. Not only is it great to buy and see new beads, but the best part is the comradery and inspiration I walk away with at these shows, inspired by others and eager to try new things. Now all I need is energy, so I am off to bed to rest up for that part.

IT"S ALL ABOUT THE DOG!

This past weekend we went to the local Oktoberfest where my daughter Briana and her dog, a long haired dachshund named Iggy entered the the Weiner races for a bit of competition. We had no idea how Iggy would react, because he usually does a lot of barking and doesn't like a lot of people, but he did just great! He did not win his race, I think he came in 3rd, but he did get a certificate for being the "longest Doxie" in the bunch! In the end he was mostly concerned with us not taking his toy away. It is rare to get a picture of Iggy like this, he runs when he sees the camera. I lucked out on this one, I took it from the back seat because of course the dog gets the front seat.
Hope everyone is having a great week!

MORE GREEN

I am still channeling green, seeking out the peaceful and the calming effects I find in this color. I have been feeling lousy, and just pushing through the week looking for something to set off the spark and stir something new and positive.
The top photos are of a necklace called Harmony, featuring a beautiful pendant by Yoli of Yolandas Clay.
The earrings feature Gaeas crackle rounds and some nifty green pearls.
Both are available on etsy here.

Wishing everyone a great weekend and a wonderful new week. As always, thanks for visiting!

GREEN

JEZABEL-available on etsy here

Again,I start this post with apologies for not visiting all my friends blogs these last few days, but the chaos of the flooding , and the traffic problems, and shopping issues that come with it have kept me busy. Roads have opened up again, so things are progressing, but the devastation will remain for a long time. Which brings me to being drawn to the color green. Seems I like the color a lot, and naturally pull to it, maybe because internally it represents growth, newness, freshness, and clean to me. Anyway , I have more green things to post in a few days, but this is the beginning.
I made the earrings, of course the sterling calls to my heart, hammered, beaten, but still shining through.
My daughter Briana made the Kumihimo braided necklace and chose LeAnn's gorgeous Koi pendant from my stash. I adore the mix of fiber and ceramic, hard and soft.

Both pieces are listed in my shop, and I am still offering 20% off my etsy shop till I decide it's over. I am feeling grateful for all that I have. I am hoping all of you out there are safe.
Thanks so much for visiting and supporting, as always means the world to me.

WHERE I LIVE

This is the Market Street Bridge, approx. 3 miles from my house, and a main artery into the city and huge populations of business, and homes.

This is a shot of the levee system approx. 5 miles away from me.

This is a shopping center 1 mile away from my house.

This is what we are living through now. It is the flood of 2011. The Susquehanna river was expected to crest at 2 am this morning at 40.8 feet. The new levee system was built to 41 feet after the Agnes flood of 72 destroyed the entire valley. The river crested at 38.8. There is devasting damage to all of the communities surrounding me. I live on a huge hill, so fortunate to never live through the actual floods, but everywhere I turn, it is in front of me. Many members of my family are displcaced at the moment, 65, ooo. people have been evacuated. It has been a hellish 2 days here, we all feel hopeless and sick to our stomachs. We have been blessed to be spared the worst, but so many people in low lying areas have already lost so much. We have not seen flooding like this in 40 years. If you are interested you can google the agnes flood of 1972, and see what the devastation was like.

Please keep our community in your prayers.

DREAMY

I am finally getting around to posting one of my new pieces.....DREAMY! I fell in love with some old rhinestone brooches at the flea a while ago, and had to use this one as a beautiful focal. I paired it with some chunky gemstones and bits of my etchings, and some wonderful vintage garnet beads. I love putting these mixed material necklaces together, it's like working on a puzzle. I know when it's done when I feel good!

Thank you to all my new followers and everyone who visits and comments, you inspire me to keep creating!
